Attempted Homicide - Bear Tavern Road

Hopewell Township Police Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call on Bear Tavern Road for a reported altercation between two male parties on the roadside. It was reported that the altercation involved use of an edged weapon. Upon arrival, Officers found the victim alert and responsive, with significant injuries. Officers and responding EMS provided immediate care to the victim, who was transported to a local hospital.
The suspect, identified as Nahuan Tejada, had fled the scene and left the area, heading towards New Brunswick. Hopewell Township Police Department Detectives processed the scene, and began investigative efforts to locate the suspect. Tejada was charged with Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Assault by Auto. A warrant was issued on 2/25/2026 for these charges.
A joint investigation between Hopewell Township Police Department, Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, and US Marshalls lead to the arrest of Tejada on 3/12/2026 in New Brunswick, NJ. Tejada was transported to HTPD for processing and later transported and lodged in Mercer County Correctional Center. The matter will be heard in Superior Court.
