Date: 8/13/2024 Time: 2:02 PM Jurisdiction- Hopewell Borough
Type of Incident: Criminal Mischief / Theft
Investigating Officer: George Peterson

Details: On August 13, 2024 Officer Peterson met with the victim of criminal mischief in the HTPD lobby. The victim reported that they found damage at their residence. The victim stated that they have a string of lights in the yard of the residence. The string of lights was cut and a portion was stolen from the residence. In addition, the sd card for their trail camera was removed and stolen as well. The incident was believed to have occurred between 8/9/2024 and 8/11/2024. The incident is under investigation.

Details: On August 8, 2024 Sgt Panzano met with the victim of fraud at police headquarters. The victim stated they found two charges totaling $52.94 on his bank statement which were not his. The victim reported the charges to his bank and filed the police report. Both transactions appeared to have taken place in California. The victim was advised to monitor his banking statements and credit report going forward.

Details: On August 8, 2024 Officer Kuzma responded to the Stop & Shop for a reported shoplifting that occurred the previous day. Loss prevention reported that a female subject entered the store on 8/7/2024 at 9:25PM and stole various packages of energy drinks from the store, leaving without payment. The total loss was reported as $351.66 in goods. The incident is under investigation.

Details: On August 10, 2024 Sgt Panzano responded to a Mckonkey Way address for a reported fraud. The victim reported that there was an attempt made by an unknown party to cash a check for $25,000 on their account. The incident was reported to the victim’s bank who provided a copy of the fraudulent check. The check appeared the same as their personal checks that they use, but this one had been altered to the amount of $25,000. The check number used was fraudulent. The victim suffered no monetary loss as the transaction was denied.

Charges: Shoplifting

Details: On August 10, 2024 at 2:49 PM Sgt Panzano and other officers were dispatched to the Shoprite of Pennington for a reported shoplifting in progress. The suspect, identified as Dennis Jackson, fled the scene on foot but was located nearby by officers. Jackson was taken into custody and transported to HTPD for processing. A second suspect was not apprehended on scene, but was later after a review of store surveillance and positive identification. That subject was identified as Daryl Smith, also of Trenton. Both subjects were charged with Shoplifting, Resisting Arrest, and Hindering Apprehension. The matter will be heard in Superior Court.

Charges: DUI, Reckless Driving

Details: On August12, 2024 Officer Gavdanovich was dispatched to Cleveland Rd for a reported motorist assist for a driver who ran off the roadway into a ditch. Upon arrival, the driver was exhibiting signs of intoxication. Officer Gavdanovich had the driver, identified as Peter Ham, perform roadside sobriety tests. Ham was found to be under the influence and arrested on scene. He was transported to HTPD for processing and charged with DUI and Reckless Driving. The matter will be heard in Municipal Court.

Accused Address: Quakertown Rd Pittstown NJ 08867
Investigating Officer: Brandon Kuzma

Charges: Contempt of Court
Details: On August 14, 2024 Officer Kuzma was conducting a traffic enforcement detail on North Route 31 near Tree Farm Road. Kuzma conducted a motor vehicle stop on a speeding vehicle. Kuzma made contact with the driver, identified as Antonois Silverdis, who was found to have an active NCIC warrant out of Hunterdon County. Silverdis was arrested on scene and transported to HTPD for processing. He was later transported to Hunterdon County Jail in default. Silverdis was charged with Contempt of Court and speeding.

Investigating Officer: George Peterson
Charges: DUI

Details: On August 16, 2024 Officer Peterson responded Route 29 near Pleasant Valley Road for a reported drunk driver who had stuck the guardrail and kept going. Peterson arrived on scene and conducted a motor vehicle stop on the vehicle in question. The driver, identified as John Gallagher, was found to be exhibiting signs of intoxication. Gallagher performed field sobriety testing on scene and was arrested for DUI. He was transported to HTPD for processing before being released. Gallagher was charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, Open Container, and Failure to Report an Accident / Leaving the scene. The matter will be heard in Municipal Court.

Details: On August 19, 2024 at approximately 8:28 AM Officer Finnegan responded to a Hopewell Parc address for a reported theft of copper. The residence is still under construction. The copper was stolen from the exterior of the home. It is believed to have occurred between 8/17 and 8/18. The estimate value of the copper stolen was $2,700.00. The incident is under investigation.

Details: On August 26, 2024 Officer Stanton responded to Honor Yoga on Denow Road for a reported theft of wallet and keys. A patron reported that she attended class at the studio between 10:20 and 10:40 AM and believes the theft took place in this timeframe. The victim’s wallet and keys were stolen and a charge for $500 was found on the victim’s credit card. A front desk employee saw two unknown females enter the studio during this timeframe and as of now they are suspects in the case. This case is under investigation with active leads. Nothing further at this time.
