LGBTQ Law Enforcement Liaison

The Hopewell Township Police Department strives to serve all members of the community with dignity and respect. As a demonstration of this continued commitment, we have partnered with Garden State Equality, as well as law enforcement agencies throughout the State of New Jersey, to bring this important resource to the Hopewell Valley.

Sgt. Alexis Mirra was appointed to serve as the LGBTQ Law Enforcement Liaison for Hopewell Township and Hopewell Borough in 2022. The New Jersey LGBTQ Law Enforcement Liaisons group currently consists of over 100 police officers, who are employed by a variety of law enforcement agencies throughout the State of New Jersey. Despite the wide range of assignments and varying jurisdictions, all of the liaisons share the common goal of fostering positive relationships between the LGBTQ community and law enforcement.

The mission of the LGBTQ Law Enforcement Liaison team is to ensure trust and promote a positive working relationship between law enforcement and the LGBTQ community through education and community outreach efforts. Moreover, the LGBTQ Law Enforcement Liaisons serve as a direct point of contact, partnering with community stakeholders and other government officials, to provide an internal resource and support to other law enforcement personnel, and to bridge any gaps that may exist between law enforcement and the community in which they serve.

For more information regarding this program, additional resources for members of the community, or requests for participation in specific community outreach events, please feel free to contact Sgt. Mirra (she/her), via email at amirra@hopewelltwp.org or by phone at (609) 737-3100 x 5230
