Traffic Unit
The police department traffic unit is made up of patrol officers who are tasked primarily with targeted motor vehicle enforcement in known problem areas.
Duties
The unit also conducts commercial truck enforcement, investigates serious injury and fatal motor vehicle crashes. The unit works with the state, county and municipal traffic engineers to improve the design of local problem roadways. The traffic unit also conducts traffic surveys to obtain statistics for traffic engineering.
The school crossing guards come under the traffic unit.
